Sales Training Insight: Don’t let negative prospects kill your sales motivation

I started in the sales training and speaking business in my early 20’s.

Many people told me I was too young to be credible – some told me to come back when I had a few grey hairs and more life experience.

I took this hard. While it was a handful of prospects that were negative it impacted all of my selling and business.

I had a chip on my shoulder and was an anxious and defensive seller. I overcompensated and in many cases monopolized conversations and blew sales opportunities.

A big part of why this impacted me is I was “self-focused” and was more concerned and about people’s opinions of me and their approval than I was about helping them.

When I realized the true impact of a handful of people and focused on the open minded majority, and how I can help them – my business relationships and sales success improved.

Don’t let the negative outlook of customers and prospects impact your mindset.
