Maximizing Sales Discovery with AI: Utilizing Fathom and ChatGPT
One tool I often talk about in my AI Keynotes is Fathom – an AI meeting assistant. I came across the tool about a year ago, it’s available in both free and premium versions. This tool stood out for its ability to facilitate note-taking and analyze conversations efficiently.
Here’s an excerpt from my Keynote:
In meetings with potential clients, I typically ask for permission to use my AI assistant for note-taking. I offer to share a link for their reference, emphasizing its role in ensuring no detail is missed.
Despite being adept at taking notes myself, my experience has shown that Fathom’s AI is more thorough in capturing conversations.
Fathom records the entire discussion and, using its AI notes feature, analyzes the conversation based on the meeting type—whether it’s a general meeting, interview, customer meeting, demo, one-on-one, project kickoff, update, or sales call. This helps in identifying key points, client challenges, and opportunities.
Integrating these insights with ChatGPT has been transformative. I feed ChatGPT with two documents: one containing anonymized client discovery information and another with a keynote seminar description. ChatGPT then predicts four business outcomes from the seminar, based on the analysis. These predictions are often insightful and detailed, leading to enhanced proposals.
This approach has received positive feedback from clients and prospects, often highlighting our deep understanding of their needs with comments like, “you really listened to us.”
AI can automate things for us but to be successful we have to think about how to use it to “Augment” or strengths. When you combine great questions and conversations skills in a sales discovery call with AI you can begin to create this AI augmented best practice in selling.
